Can you smell a cat del??

Just installed a RSR cat del on my E7 today. can't feel the change yet, but the first thing I noticed is the strong exhaust smell. I never before smell anything inside the car with window rolled down, but now I can really smell it.
Is the cat really that amazingly efficient or is there a leak somewhere?

sounds about right. everyone i have heard with a cat delete you can definitly smell the difference (especially if you remove the cat in your header or downpipe depending on which car you have).

Yes, there definitely is a difference in exhaust smell w/ and w/out cat. If you live in an urban area and drive your car regularly put a cat in, even though it will make a significant difference in power and torque.

Is Hong Kong counted as an urban area? I do drive the car everyday, but if the cat is choking my car I am not putting it back in. you can't make me...

If you remove your, your are going to get that strong gas smell. I used to drive my mustang around sans cat. My hair would smell like gas after a short trip with the wimdows down. If you remove the cat from any car, it's going to smell rich. It does not mean that it is running rich. All of the gas that was being burned up in the converter is now dumping out of your exhaust.

just came back from test run, this is my finding:

It smells bad.
It is quieter than I expected, just more bass hum.
I feel a slight power lost below 3000rpm.
There is a gain after 3000rpm, not sure how much yet.
The peak boost went up just slightly.

low end power is lost due to the reduction of backpressure in non-turbo cars. I am assuming you do not have a turbo but i could be wong (sorry i had to make a joke about the last name).

Ray you will feel a lil laggy prior to the turbo boostin. Its the result from increase flow of exhaust and lack of backpressure. But its a good sacrifice, cause the turbo kicks alot harder now. Seems normal that you have increase in boost or a lil spiking.
