front helical-type lsd
question for y'all, and really curious for input,
is it advisible, let alone possible to change the 2003 evo's front open lsd to the jdm helical-type?
if so, my evo will soon no longer be 'stock.'
moreover, since it's definite the 2004 evo rs is coming with the helical lsd,
could non-rs evo's be specially ordered, or the mitsu part installed at dealerships? i have no prior dealings with mitsu so don't really know there thoughts on the such.
thanks,

best bet is to search...been talked about many times
The US Evo VIII uses a totaly unique front transfer case...the JDM unit will not work. No companies currently offer any front LSD for the US Spec VIII, though we have been working with Cusco on trying to get one done.

There will be no problem getting the LSD from the RS, it's a simple matter of buying it from your local parts department like any other part. What the hell does Mitsu care if you void your warranty? Oh wait, you wouldn't, because you'd be putting an OEM part in the car!
Chris, did you get that badge installed yet? Pics!!

I would be interested to see how a front LSD (that Mitsu fits to cars with the same motor) would be responsible for turbo failure, a thrown rod or a fried piston.... F Mitsu's warranty...

It will fit, that's what I put in my EVO and blew apart after about 5 minutes of 2nd gear rolling-burnouts
Just make sure when you take the stock one out you remember to take the thin shims off the ends of the diff case and tranfer them to the new diff. The shims stick to the diff housing so you might not even notice they are on there if you're not being carefull.
Too much torque transfer through that thing and it pops! I bet it would work well on lower hosepower cars but be carefull launching/hard wheelspin.
