Whining narrowed to serpentine belt pulleys....Now what?
So I have a whining from my 06 evo. Today I dug in and pulled off the serpentine belt. After starting the car and giving it a few revs the whining was gone. I now know its one of the pulleys.
This is where Im stuck. How do I find out which pulley it is and whats the easiest way to swap these pulleys?
I can post videos and whatever if people have any idea what to listen for. It sounds like a very generic pulley whine though and Ive been unable to figure out which pulley it would be from having hte hood open and looking.
Thanks for any help!

is your belt cracked? Old trick is to put the belt back on let the car run and while it is whining pour water on the belt. If the noise goes away and stays away it is the belt. If it comes back it is a pulley. would be fairly simple from there to tell which pulley is bad. the idler pulley is a bearing type like the timing components so that is where i would look first

Try lubricating the pulleys where the bearing races are using oil our some spray lubricant one at a time until the noise subsides. This is how I found my ps pump bearing was squeaking.

I tried this and none had play/any noise or wobbling. Going to try what the last guy said and use some spray on it to see if it goes away on any specific pulley.

So I finally got around to spraying down everything and the whining doesnt vanish. I went ahead and replaced the idler pulley with no change =/.
Maybe I'll look for someone local to take a look at it.
