More then likely it is your tcase. Did u replace clutch recently? Dont drive it to much cuz then all the shavings will go into your tranny ..

^^^If you drove a reasonable distance with no fluid in the xfercase, it is likely damaged internally (just down your block slowly wouldn't hurt it). The whine you hear is letting you know something is wrong. If I were you, I would have the xfercase removed and inspected internally for damage.

Once you remove the tcase and open it u will see it as for trany same thing open it up. Do u have a shop where they can look at it? That b the best thing take to someone who speacialize in evo.

^^^I wouldn't attempt to open up the trans or the tcase, unless your an experienced mechanic...take it to a (reputable, unlike the other shop that forgot to fill your transfercase ) speed shop that deals with imports, and have them inspect both.

Removing them and taking them apart are two different things.

Spacing for all the gears have to be in spec. Before you put it all back together.

Hey yea i just bought my 03 Evo 2 days ago from a insurance auction, and While driving yesterday around my block and while driving i heard a whine, I didn't know what it was. This might be a noobie question but when i poped it into neutral the whining was still there, so does that mean that it is still the transfer case? and does anyone know how much it costs to fix and if its something someone with some mechanical experience can do?
