Short Runner T4 TS GTX3076R Experiment

I thought it would be best to start a new thread for this swap.

I still owe the results from the RevHard swap and will update in the other post in a next few days. Essentially the car hit a power wall, which I have been unable to diagnose the cause so I decided to just go tubular and experiment with a short runner twin scroll for my 1.06 a/r T4 turbine housing mated to the GTX3076r.

I have not seen a setup like mine and I can only guess how well it will work, but it sure is fun fabricating again after 5 years of doing nothing. Needless to say my skills are rusty, but I get better every time.

I went with the larger 1.5" schedule 30 pipe because the ID seemed to better match the port cross sectional area. Although most don't recommend the larger pipe on a street car I thought it wouldn't be bad since the runner lengths are so short, thus much less volume. Also, in looking at the ported stocker it also seemed to have fairly large short ports and is known to work for big power with the FP Black.

Well, enough with the talk and find the pics below. The wastegate dumps might be a bit tricky, but that is all part of the fun!

And now installing in the car.

Awesome.

That looks really not fun to build, I could imagine pulling my hair out making that! Then again I can get frustrated easily

I took some pictures with the compressor housing in place to verify fitment. Everything appears to be closely aligned with how it was position with the RevHard kit.

I fabricated the 3" downpipe and it fit with no clearance issues. I also started to run the wastegates. Not quite sure how I will run the second wastegate, but I am sure I will come up with something clever. I am certainly welcome to ideas!

You could merge the 2nd WG pipe into the recirc of the first. Ive seen ETS do this on their TS kits that recirc into the downpipe or just into one dump. Looks good!

Shouldn't this be in the welding/fabrication section? Definitely a very interesting manifold...

The placement of your passenger side wastegate could be a issue as its on only one runner and not at the point of merge (being the collector of course). I do see there being a problem there. Looks like you could have made it fit next to the other port which looks to be closer if not on the collector.

Other then that, looks good. Came out nice!
