Well here is the update. Replaced the gates belt with a greddy belt both timing belt and balnce shaft belt. Had it running for 20 mins with no noise. It must have been the belt just rubbing ever so slightly. Going to drive it later this week to confirm but I think Its fixed

I seem to be having the same issue now after installing hks 272 CAMS and HKS cam gears.

Noise only occurs when engine is warm not during startup
Took it to my mechanic/tuner who did the work originally.
He has checked all the belts (all orig mitsi replaced by ralliart about 5000kms ago) and no issues so no rubbing etc etc .

He thinks it may be the HKS Cam gears are getting warm and expanding and making the belts tighter and causing noises on the hydraulic tensioner. He says its not serious and nothing to worry about ??!!???

Is he correct in saying this ?

Cheers

Tension bearing not adjusted properly

Noise like that is due to the Tension Bearing that is not adjusted properly.
I have the exact same issue.
It is too tight and for my issue it is because of the Tension Bearing can sit clock-wise or counter-clock-wise. So the position can be set incorrectly.

To solve that problem, leave the Timing shield uninstall and start the engine.
Listen to the sound and check the timing belt alignment while it is open.
DO NOT leave the engine running for too long ( less than 30 seconds).

Examine the tension bearing, when setting it initially, it needs to have its own spring tension pushing against the belt. The hex key can be turned to increase the tension.

When you increase the tension, examine the belt in the area of the Crankshaft, you will see it tighten - wrapping around the Crankshaft gear. You do not want it to wrapped so much but enough so the belt will not pop off.
