Lets talk boost and compression on my Evo 8

I have been reading the many threads on compression and boost. During my build I decided on Manley 9.5:1 compression pistons. The motor is built and I am on a break in tune at this time (less than 14psi). The car feels great out of boost and gets up and goes.

Since my engine build I feel like i'm constantly driving in boost. It comes on so much faster and I'm still on the stock 8 turbo. Before I was running 27lbs before one of my pistons was destroyed by detonation. After reading many other threads i'm nervous that I will lose hp. You drop all this money on a engine build, hopefully I didn't go wrong in my decision. My plan down the road is to get a evo 9, red, green turbo. There is no e85 around here in Florida so thats out of the question. This car is my daily/week end warrior.

I don't see anyone talking about the stock tubos and how they respond to a HCR. I just see talk about the bigger turbos and I can't find a thread showing dyno results or comparing. It's all just talk...

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

350hp/360tq before the boom

Since then I have added ported head, LICP and O2 housing along with pistons/rods/crank. Will my engine survive at 27lbs like before?

You will not need to run nearly as much boost to make good power. You will be more than happy at 21-22 psi

I realize 27lbs of boost on the stock turbo is excessively hot just for a few more hp. I just can't find someone who was making the same power as me, add a HCR with the stock turbo and achieve more or the same hp with less boost.

It's just one of those things where i feel I made a 3k dollar mistake if eventually i want ot get to 500hp.
