2006 Lancer Turbo/Misfire/Bogging/Sputter

Hey all! New to the forums but am having some issues with my Lancer!

I thought this would be an okay place to put this issue, if it needs to be moved please by all means do so!

To start with the issue, the car does have its CEL Light on and it shows Misfire.

It idles fine, and seems air to fuel is fine when idling (14.7-14.9)

When taking off if I fully depress the throttle, the car bogs, and under boost, has no power whatsoever.

If I am already in motion, and i stomp on the throttle, it sputters and the boost needle is all over the place, again - no power until I let off the throttle and ease into it.

I have changed the plugs, and gapped to .024 when I changed the plugs they looked fine and no fouling.

When I ease onto the pedal it goes into boost fine and holds, spools fine, but can sputter at low RPM and when stomped on!

Im at a loss here and could use any help I can get, it is a Ralliart and a turbo was installed before I bought it.

Thanks!!!

Boost cut/fuel cut due to cold weather. Turn your boost controller down.

Thanks Craig, but this was happening in Summer also.

I do not have a boost controller, and its already set very low - 8psi.

I have 100% fine fuel pressure and Oil Pressure.

Maybe I do need a Boost controller? I don't know maybe it is set to high, but I have not touched it since I bought it.

Hey Fast, I don't think so, when I do slowly accelerate it holds boost fine and does not sputter, but at low rpms it lacks power! I could do the test, wouldn't hurt!

I'm wondering if it is something with the ignition? possibly how I gapped the plugs?

Thanks for the reply!!!

Sorry for double post, but when looking over my exhaust manifold I had seen a small crack/hole, it's obviously leaking could this be the issue?

You need to check some other things. Make sure the mass air sensor is working correctly, tps is working correctly and fuel pressure is going up correctly.

My MAF is fine, fuel pressure is staying static, at just under 60 no matter where im at with the throttle. Is that normal?

Tune? Has it been doing this since you bought it? Or did it just start over the summer? What is the A/F reading when it begins to bog and sputter, rich or lean? Might help determine if the problem is straight fuel cut or ignition. Also just double check on the boost leak test to be sure, helps rule out the possibility. Clean the MAF anyway and try a hard reset of the ECM to let it relearn. It sounds to me like a fuel delivery issue, like not enough pressure to the rail for the injectors. I only say that cause i've seen it before with this type of driveability description. Not sure if it is the issue in your case since you say the fuel pressure is static a 60psi. How many miles on the set up? And have you tried changing the fuel filter just for sh*ts and giggles? Good luck and let us know what happens.
