Best Valve Springs w/ retainers for evo 9?? Need suggestions!
Ive searched and searched but every post is outdated about this..
I have an Evo 9 that will be running gsc s2 cams on stock turbo.
The question I have is what are the best valve springs w/ retainers for my setup??
I was thinking about going with the gsc stage 2 valve springs w/ retainers or the stage 3. Ive also heard to go with the kiggly valve springs..
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
What's better dual valve springs or single?

How much are you willing spend and what are your future goals?
On my car I run the MAP Beehives with stock retainers and Kelford 272s on stock turbo that never runs above 29psi or much above 7000rpm. It does the job well and doesn't break the bank. I have 18,000 miles on them and never had a problem in the past.

^'agreed. The map spring are great pieces. And retainers are pointless unless you are at my level running 12mm lift cams on mechanical lifters and such. Anyone who tells you the stock retainers aren't good enough is either a sheep following a blind heard or trying to make a buck.

I'm on stock turbo, FP beehives, stock retainers and Kelford 272s. The stock retainers are thick, very light, and perfectly fine along with beehive springs for anything < 9k rpm.

im in the same situation right now. im like 2 seconds away from buying the hi rev kiggly spring ti retainer kit with the kiggly hla. I like knowing these are one of the top spring choices money can buy and 10k revs if i choose are not a problem. This is very unorthodox because supertech is located in the bay area where I live and alot of people go that route. Im just sold on the beehives

I will be pushing high boost on stock turbo, s2 cams, injectors and basic bolt-ons. I don't think I will go as far as ever building my motor or anything that extreme atleast not in the near future
I see you have a ix mr, hows that 6 speed holding up?

I kinda thought might as well spend the extra $100 or so and get the retainers too, only because I wont have any worries in the future but I guess since I wont be going over stock redline anyway I could stay with the stock retainers.
But the springs are a must? Should I go gsc behive springs w/o retainers? Its about a $100 to go stage 2/3 valve springs w/ retainers and seats.
Thanks for all the input so far. Any more would be appreciated!

It is holding up great, 63,000 miles with over 30 launches in its lifetime so far, no weird noises and no grinding. The 6 speed is not a weak transmission at all, change the fluids regularly and don't drive it like you want it to break and it will last.
