replace my clutch

i have an evo 9 with the stock clutch and i was doing some research and on clutches but not 100% sure which one i want to go with. i was thinking about going with the Competition Clutch's Stage 2 Sport Compact clutch kit. but it doesnt come with the flywheel and i was also wondering if thats something i should replace while im putting an aftermarket clutch in.

Exedy has always been a trusted brand. What's your price? If you can afford to do a flywheel I would while the tranny's off.

A flywheel needs to be flat---so the option is to resurface it. You can do this for less then 50.00 usually. No need to replace it. Now a lightened fly wheel will sound appealing until you drive it daily and there is a good chance you will grow to dislike the on/off grab of a grippy clutch in combination with the light flywheel. So if you have several hundred dollars around you want to spend and a car you will likely not truly enjoy driving after a while--then go with a lightened fly wheel. If you want to keep the ease of drivability in stop and god traffic--then stay stock and enjoy. My .02 spend your money elsewhere

I would definitely just resurface your flywheel. as said above it is cheap but reliable and proven. I have the street light flywheel because I got it for 50 bucks. but I would never pay the 400 or whatever it retails for.

What are your power goals? If you plan on staying stock or making power around stock then I'd say that's a very ideal clutch with just resurfacing your OEM flywheel. However, if you plan on making some big numbers down the road.. might as well think for the future ya know?

If your goals are to retain torque below 400 i would recommend the ACT Heavy Duty Street clutch with solid disc, no puck. Very streetable and will handle torque fine up to that point. Once you start wanting to put down more torque than that i recommend a twin or triple disc for your needs. Either the Exedy Triple or quartermaster 8 leg.

I definitely recommend Exedy. I've been using them for years and never had a problem.

I have a couple things done to it. 3 inch Perrin exhaust intercooler pipes, manual boost controller, and I have a racing intake manifold waiting to be put on once the clutch is in. Just so easy mods nothing crazy once that's done then I'm off to get it tuned. I'm just not too sure about the kind of clutch I want yet.
