Monoloc vs clutch stopper

If you put a monoloc in the clutch do you need the clutch stopper and vice versa? Meaning is the monoloc and clutch stopper together overkill?

It's always better to have added safety. The clutch stopper has been tested to stop the retaining clip / TOB from popping off, so has the Monoloc... Why not install both and not worry a lot

The clutch stopper has been shown to also cause problems in a few cases also. The monloc is the way to go.

Bingo! I have yet to hear of a MonoLoc failure. I have one for a while now 8k miles and no failure.

I decided to put my stopper on the shelf after getting the monoloc. Love to hear some more opinions about whether to do both. My thoughts were to just keep it simple and if I didn't need it, don't install it.

the monoloc is great, i think the stopper is really only needed for a crazy race clutch/twins+trips

I just installed both on 3 evos last week. They are mainly street driven with a single or twin clutch. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have just the monoloc on my exedy twin. It's seen quite a few high rpm drag passes flat shifting and some road course abuse as well. No issues so far.

Good to hear. Exedy twin is going in my car soon & I was probably just going to use the Monoloc...

what does the monoloc do and would you recommend it for a single disc clutch? my understanding is that it keeps the clutch pedal from falling to the floor and staying at the floor which seems to be a common problem. what is the average price for monoloc and who makes the best one?

Its made by ACT and it stops the wavy washer/ clip things from popping off. Costs about $75 bucks but will pay for itself in the sense that you won't have to drop the trans should that clip pop.

If I get this right, even if the Monoloc did pop out it would pop right back in with the next push of the clutch? Where the stock one if the clip pops off you're screwed.

The stop has worked great for me so far, but you do need to periodically adjust it for clutch wear. If its to far away its not really stopping spring compression, and when its close clutch wear will take up that gap in a few months.
