More testing with GSC R2 Cams?
I am in the "persuading myself mode" for replacing my GSC S2 cams with the GSC R2 Stroker cams.
I have a 2.3L Engine, with a slight port to the head, but Rev3 Intake Manifold and 70mm TB.
I was wondering if there had been more testing going on, or more people that can chime in on how they feel the cams are doing? drivability, performance, etc. I want to know if it was worth the change, or spending the money on them. I would like a lobe, and performance gain, but at the same time, I dont want to sacrifice drivability.
Thanks

i just got tuned yesterday on my 2.4/EF4 yesterday.. car feels great.. noticed a slight shift in power to the right, but driveability is awesome.. pulls like crazy all the way up to 8k

The camshaft has been tested for almost 5 years. I havent seen any loss of low end in the IXs and minimal in the VIII, a few hundred rpm of spool at the most. They do make almost as much power up top as the S3 which is nice. To properly take advantage of them you will want a very well ported cylinder head. As far as drivability goes, my car could get 25 on the highway and the cams were barely noticeable at idle on my LR2.4.

They are meant for a powerband under 9,000rpm but since most people dont run a large enough turbo to justify revving higher than that it doesnt matter. Cams dont limit rpm, that will be the bottom end and/or valvesprings. We use S3s in the SLR2.2 motors by default, to answer your question, since the rev to 9800 on the big turbo cars.

Will the S2 cams hurt me performance wise?
I am planning on going Black BB turbo, and if we are talking 10HP difference from the S2 to the R2 top end, then they are not worth it. What can you say about it?
Thanks

The R2's have the s2's beat everywhere, except while driving in a parking lot looking for an open parking spot.
I made ~25/30whp more for peak & they hit harder as well when coming into your boost target.
I will post an overlay of my results later on. The numbers are calculated whp/wtq, same car, same road, similar fuel loads & ambient conditions....the results will show the differences.
