I just did this work but I had to split off t-case, dunno how you would do that by not detaching the t-case, though *subscribed* to know how

6 bolts holding the t-case to the trans, remove them. Grab a slide hammer & remove the shaft between the trans & t-case. Grab a pry bar & separate the t-case from the trans. Slide the t-case towards the passenger side of the car & let it sit on top of the steering rack/subframe.

The transfer has to come off to get to bolts holding the gearbox to the engine.

06MREvo posted the process to remove the transfer case above. Removing it is small fry in the grand scheme of replacing a clutch.

Its not gonna happen on an acd car. There is one bolt holding the block to the trans and the bolt cant be accessed without the transfercase out of the way. Luckily the transfercase comes out pretty easy, and its not all that heavy. This was my secret to doing a clutch job in a garage on jackstands.. http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/v...eHhLmfEmTw_wcB

I unbolted the t-case and pulled the shaft out and pried it over and used a ratchet wrench to remove the bolt to the bell housing.

You can get the trans out without pulling the tcase. Just unbolt it and push it over to the passenger side. You have to drop the drivers side cradle.
