The 25psi actuator I got from FP was heavily preloaded from them and held 24psi and would make 40psi with boost control. I've run it two turns softer but it doesn't drive as nice as the 18psi actuator IMO.

Sadly, the 18psi actuator won't make over 30psi above 7300ish.
Maybe there is just casting variances between housings and I got a "good" turbine housing?
What do you mean doesn't drive as nice? You don't like how hard it hits?

And yeah, my car will hold 30psi at 8k with only like 68% wgdc.

Stock cams / mivec are also different. Honda guy had the same creep issue on his red with stock cams/mivec.

The stiffer spring in the actuator makes great power but around town the softer spring drives smoother. Sometimes you don't need 24lbs at 20% throttle in traffic. I'm trying to ride the line of a fun daily streetcar that makes good power. Back on my stock engine I would run the stock crushed bov at 30psi and the car drove perfect.
The evo will never be smooth like a BMW but some things can be changed to make it drive the way you want it.

Have you ever played with the turbosmart WG actuator?

I made 476/425 on TPG's Dyno with a SS Green. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but the SS green has a noticeable amount of lag compared to the stock 9 turbo I had previously. My setup was less than optimum, Stock block, 93+ meth injection and HKS 264 cams. But overall I personally like the SS housing though and don't regret switching to it.

Rule of thumb is that those SS housings make ~50 more whp than the MHI housings.

So wouldn't that mean a SS Green makes like 550whp max with Red spool when an MHI Red can make 600?

There has been a couple SS greens posted in the upper 500 range. Abacus made 630 with his MHI red.

So I'd need a SS 71HTA if I wanted MHI Green performance

Well, you'd have Green spool with Green minus 30+whp performance

So, upper 500's with Red-like spool instead of 600+ with Red-like spool.

Got it

Stroker or 2.0?

If 2.0, I would love to see that dyno chart/boost plot.

Its a stock block with head studs, no dyno. Street tuned.
