Need moar pics.

And FWIW, I would have replaced the center diff bearings too. I was just commenting that they weren't bad in the sense they were making noise.

Also, that poor trans is dirty as f#ck inside

I have no idea why the damn tranny is so dirty looking, I've changed the fluid 4-6 times in 15k miles...lost count.

It's taking 12 hours of a simple green soak to clean off.

Here's 3rd, the synchro's look worn to me, and I think the edges of 3rd gear are actually worn badly...again after 15k miles with no grinding at all??

Looks worn to me.

teeth wear on 3rd syncro teeth

Look at the edges of 3rd gear teeth...Worn badly?

Slider looks fine to me

Nothing sticks out on the syncro itself except maybe to much wear for 15k miles....again those teteh o n 3rd though...thoughts?

4th gear pics:

Looks fine to me

Looks fine to me

Looks fine to me

Looks fine to me, much better than 3rd

Looks fine to me

The edges of 3rd gear aren't worn, that's the detail/profiling work Jon does, at least that's what it looks like to me.

The synchro engagement teeth all look pretty good to me. Work synchro teeth usually look flat, not like a triangle. Yours still look like triangles with a decent point.

This a pic of a new 1-2 synchro on Jon's website. It looks dark...

Are you sure about the wear pattern actually being the custom work Jon does?

Seems a bit random to me, I'm going to try to get a better shot of that.

The funny thing about the pic you uploaded is that it looks like the same color of my 3,4,5, and R Synchro's.....Only 1&2 look shiny and new.

I think you'll be happier with Shep. I had two TRE built trans prematurely suck. 6spd and 5spd. Add that to the fact he still doesn't understand what communication means.

Never again.

Roger that.

To be clear, the replacement parts are coming from Shep, I'll be performing the build myself.

@ tsitalon1

Can you please keep this thread alive by posting tips, experiences, pics, etc.

Especially steady close up pics comparing old to new

I plan on going thru my 5spd when my clutch gets swapped out in the future.

any links to doc's or manuals would be great too.

TIA

Ah. Gears are hard to take pics of, they're all shiny and never look right.

Shoot with a circular polarizing filter and you can dial out the shine/glare.
