Which is faster? ...Nurburgring lap time reference.

After seeing post after post of "Which is faster EVO or (?)" threads I decided to put together this abbreviated list, Enjoy! ...Sorry, no 1/4 mile times listed here.

Note that the EVOs listed here may have had SAYC which may yield a tenth or two here and there compared to the US spec car.

The ultimate road course ...Nordschleife (excluding GP track), 20.6 kms,12.8002 miles :

Cool list. I wonder if we'll ever see the day when a factory Evo breaks the 7 minute club.

I'd like to see a stock EVO break into the sevens some day, sorry to say but I don't think we'll never see a production EVO break into the sixes. And if it one day it does I won't be able to afford it.

Awesome post. The video I've seen of that 7:12 M3 GTR lapping is one of the most amazing in-car videos I've ever seen.

There is some pretty major hardware between the Evo and the top. I think the high 7s may be doable, but it may be a couple of generations down the road. I've been lucky enough to drive the Ring last year, I imagine there must be some big time pucker factor to get down to the low 7s.

Best wishes,

have to keep in mind that the evo is not a grand touring car and the ring is a gt track

And where do you think a factory production EVO would be better equiped to show whats it's got than the Nurburgring?

True. Don't kid ourselves. Nurburgring is where the Evo shines. If it weren't important to Mitsubishi they wouldn't consistently get busted by magazine spy shots as they run their Evo prototypes around the ring.

I don't know how much of difference there was between the STi Spec C prototype and the production version, but the 7:59:41 time they pulled off gives me at least a glimmer of hope that a future USDM Evo will crack into the prestigious 7 minute club.

I would love to drive on that track. I'm thinking > 15 minutes for me though.

all they need to do is put an experienced DTM driver behind the wheel of a 9.

You mean an established DTM driver who has experience driving the ring. That's one course that takes more than a few laps to master.

Testing on the Nurburgring is also a marketing strategy. Those photos generate hype and also to advertise it's development as a sports car.

It's almost the same as the production Spec C, if not exactly the same. The STi is not quite as sharp as the Evo handling wise but throw it on a somewhat bumpy unpredictable track like Nurburgring and it'll just eat up those bumps like few other road cars can.

Quick Reply: Which is faster? ...Nurburgring lap time reference.
