Completely up to driver skill. A local STi guy (you can see pics of his and my car at my website in the signature below) can't break out of the 14's at Indy Raceway Park. His best run is a 14.3.

My first time out, and first time launching an AWD car (which I bogged like hell), I ran a 13.9 @ 100. I've only improved since then, and as soon as I get my HKS cams put in - hopefully this weekend - I hope to update you all with a 12 second slip

according to all the car magazine i've read so far, the EVO has been the better of the 2 cars, but by a very slim margine. Like what AvatarOfWar said, it's all based on driver, the car can only do so much.

Both are great cars if you are considering to buy one test drive both and take you time to think about it. The EVO is awsome. But kinda a hard daily driver. More race car. The STI has less lag more low TQ and would be a great daily driver. But the handling is not the same. The STI's in the US have bin knocking out of the show room floor, so i would wait until SOA fixes this issue.

The STI is more money and does not come with a Radio or floor matts. 32K

My Evo with every factory option was 28,750.

The horsepower issue is no longer an issue if you spend what it would cost for a decent stereo system for STi... After that, the stock Evo suspension smokes the STi. I think the STi is a little nice inside, but if I wanted nicer inside, I would've bought an A4 instead of the Evo.

uhm....let me see...exactly what you mean by "better" .....if you want a car just that you can own the drag....i would get some junk up crx and spend the $$$ into that ****.....cause i think these 2 cars aren't really meant for the strip....and if you want lux, go get a g35.....

Ebonics is NOT the national language of the United States my friend....it's called English....learn it, speak it, and be fluent.

As far as better....STI is SLIGHTLY faster on the straight shots....but in (I do believe) every review out there...the EVO beats the STI in EVERYTHING else...especially turns and drivability and interior comfort.

I'm not sure what's worse:

That he can't type English normally
That he's considering "better" (batter lol) to be the car that is slightly faster in a straight line
That he posted this silly waste of a thread in an Evo forum.

So yeah, go buy that STi for it's extra 10th in the quarter mile or whatever.

For your information, I just found out from subaru board, Subaru starts to send out their chip re-flash unit to dealers. This will solve the pinging problem. It seems they act fast to their problems.

KZGTR, you wouldn't happen to be a Nasioc or Iclub guy would you? Subaru is just as notorious for shunning defects as Mitsubishi so I wouldn't praise their quality control just yet. Also It'll be interesting to see how the detuning affects the overall HP output since timing was supposedly far too aggressive in the the fat range of the STi's powerband. We shall see...

And don't forget - this was with a 2.5L motor!! Imagine if all Evos came with the Toda 2.3L kit from the factory...
