Removing Driver Side Axle on an 06 Evo?
this should be the same as removing the driver side axle on the 03-04 evos right? i cant get this thing to come out! the passenger side axle came out pretty easily, but i'm having so much trouble with the driver side axle! it wouldn't have anything to do with the ACD would it? am i missing something? all i did was slip off the passenger side axle and moved on straight to trying to pry off the driver side axle.

this is so frustrating! the passenger side axle came out with little effort. im putting a lot more strength into trying to pry off the driver side axle and nothings working. i bent a steel bar! im gonna buy a new wrecking bar at home depot and see if that works..

okay i'm still having a lot of trouble with the driver side axle! its been two days and STILL NO LUCK! and i completely destroyed the metal piece at the end of the axle. i know i wasn't supposed to pry it from the metal piece but i was running out of ideas! can i get that replaced if i bring the whole axle into the dealer? it feels like i've tried everything! i tried prying it with a pry bar and i tried using a rubber dead blow hammer to hit the pry bar with and STILL NO LUCK! this is the only thing holding me back from completing my clutch install so far! here are a couple pics.
do i have any other options than to just keep trying the same thing over and over again? should i use a different type of pry bar? please help!

you have to shock it to get it out. press it back in, then put the prybar in place, and smack the prybar with a mallet or something. I did that and the axle just popped right out. This was after I put a ridiculous amount of effort into prying alone and got nowhere

I tried for a day with a hammer and pry bar but then I got a rubber mallet and hit it and it came out with 3 hits, made a huge difference. The shock is gonna get it out, dont pry on it, hit it.
The passenger side axle is usually the tough one.

Like other people are saying.... Shock it. Keep hitting the pry bar with a hammer. Try a different pry bar also. Sometimes you can switch to a different bar and put a slightly different angle on it and it will pop right out. Try having someone hold the axle straight so it takes the side load off of the splines.

I did my passenger side axle on friday and it gave me a little bit of trouble but i got it out... in your picture where you have the prybar get a small block of wood and put it behind the prybar. Thats what i did and it worked on the first try
