I like Meguiar's Gold Class wash and Meguiar's NXT 2.0 paste wax. You can buy it most places for a reasonable price.

You need to post this on the detailing forum. The process is MUCH more important than the product. It isn't something that can be discussed in a few snippets of text. Here is something to get you started:

Edit: I just realized that you've already asked about water spots on the detailing board. Did you follow through with what was suggested?

NXT 2.0 wax is very good as shedding water in the rain. Pick up some Meguiar's Ultimate spray detailer and microfiber towels for use between washes too while you're at it. You'll want a nice waffle weave microfiber towel to dry your car after a wash though.

Don't let the soap dry on the car by wash/rinse in sections and start from the top. When you do the final rinse, take off any nozzle you have on the hose. Let the water flow freely out of the hose and it will sheet off of the car insted of leaving drops. Immediately dry with a mircofiber.
