I have a full 3" HKS Exhaust system on my 8 and i just picked up a 9 stock muffler, has anyone done this before to quite their car down? i have a test pipe as well so if i plan on doing this i hope it wont affect the performance to much on the car. let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

the muffler is the most restrictive thing in the stock exhaust (aside from the cat which i'm guessing you will have a test pipe if you're on aftermarket exhaust)

Don't do it man, you might aswell put the entire stock system back.
Have you ever seen what the inside of the stock backbox looks like?

This. You can put a Magnaflow muffler in place of your test pipe, and it's still 3" all the way through. All the flow without all the sound.

thanks for the opinion guys! i think i might find a local shop that carries magnaflow exhaust mufflers and see how much more it would cost to just weld one of those on the back, now hopefully i can sell the stock one i just bought..

Before I bought the MAP-Varex catback, I was going to send my stock muffler to Works to have it modified as I HATE loud exhaust but still wanted the power. With my current exhaust, I can press a button on a key fob to open/close(loud/quiet) the valve in the muffler. Here's the link to the Works modded muffler:

Has anyone ran the Ultra Quiet Resonator onto their aftermarket exhaust? what is the outcome? also i spoke to a few shops today and they said they would def start off by adding a resonator, and if that isnt good enough then do the muffler as well, And one shop didnt want to touch my car due to it having a test pipe and not the stock cat on it because he might run into legal issues...

It would be a huge waste to cut off the HKS muffler. I'd go with the resonator which should bring the noise level down quite a bit.

Now what about going with either a Glasspack or resonator? A muffler shop now suggests just doing a glasspack over a resonator..
