both reverse lights stay on

trying to get my car inspected in WV, but both my reverse lights are on when i start the car even tho its not in reverse. Does anyone have an idea on what to check?

Yea, +1 on the switch on top of the transmission. If that switch gets stuck or gummed up it can't seperate the contacts.

sorry for bring it up after 10 years

but i would like to know where is the reverse light switch located on the trans??? pic would be nice and whats the part # for the it ??
