timing belt failure 2nd time, need advise.

ok here's the problem, two times my timing belt has failed due to something hitting it or cutting it and messing my block and head and giving me thousands of dollars in damage and a huge headache to get it fixed

after some analysis i suspect its either my broken lower timing belt cover (it has a sharp edge preduding) or the crank trigger plate which runs almost rubbing the timing belt, maybe hitting it due to vibration or something like that?

but after research on here and google, i have found something confusing, in some pics the timing belt is almost next to the crank trigger plate and in other pics there is a wheel seperating it, now im confused as to what is right?

im also running a balance shaft elimanator delete kit...

i need all of your help as i dont want to mess my engine up a third time, as to the lower timing belt cover i dont think thats the problem because in one of the incidents the timing belt was cut from the inner side, away from the timing belt cover.

Btw I have a 2.1l engine which means it's a 4g64 block.
now what is going wrong?

here is an example of the timing belt running right next to the crank trigger plate, just like mine.

there is no wheel seperating it.

btw pic is taken from this forum.

and here is a pic with the wheel that is seperating the crank trigger plate and the timing belt...

now which is correct?

dont look at the X and pointing arrow as this pic is taken from this forum, just look at the wheel infront of the trigger plate.

There is no "wheel" there. It looks like it’s just a bit dirty. I assume you don’t know how to set the proper tension on your timing belt so it keeps breaking.

Have you checked for crankwalk?

Ok so it's just the trigger plate next to the timing belt?

The timing belt doesn't break just like that, something cuts it. I've changed the timing belt before without any problems but this time I changed to a buschur rancing 2.1l short block and then the first timing belt failure happened and then the second. I don't think a buschur built block has crank walk issues.

Do you run the top timing belt cover also? There is no chance anything dropping into the cam gears area right?
What kind of belt did you use?

Yes I run both covers but the lower one is a little damaged.
I used the oem evo 9 belt.

Put the revised cylinder bracket on this time.

See the sticky thread about noise from timing area or something like that.
