what gasket r u using? and r u using the proper torque sequence? use a straight edge and feeler guage on the head and block. hope it works the 2nd time. I measure clearances before I install. saves me a lot of time later. take care. I want to know how this turns out for ya

im using oem evo 8 hg with l19 studs, i torqued the studs down to 95ft. lbs..
i did get a straight edge loaned to me from the machine shop after i mentioned it, in terms of my feeler gauges i had none that thin but i used a piece of paper and there was some low spots the paper would slide under partially, mostly around and between cylinders. i had the block resurfaced and the head was gone through again. turns out i had 2 bent valves also so i replaced those. fingers crossed she holds together this time.
i used the sequence i found off this site i believe, from the center out in increments from like 45, 65 , then 95 just an example.

Ah, the dream. A lil off topic but my friend recently bought a brand new Golf TSi and his girlfriend went and bought the exact same car (same options, colour, everything) and he absolutely hates it so now he is upgrading to a GTi. Anyway my lady asks me how much I'd hate it if she bought an Evo, at first I said I'd hate it, but after thinking about it, thats the dream man haha. It'd be so fun to go on cruises with my girlfriend.

My friend is selling his WW VIII. I've tried my hardest to my gf to buy it, but no dice. LOL
She likes hatchbacks, so we're current negotiating:
Focus ST
Fiesta ST
'07-11 STi

The Focus RS is sadly out, due to local markups and her not caring enough to travel.
What I NEED is an RS owner with buyer's remorse. LOL

those focus are cool. a friend of mine got one they seem pretty sporty, i like the tuxedo black.
it was pretty easy getting her in a evo since she had been wanting one before i even considered picking one up i just stumbled up on a deal i couldnt pass up.. i helped her look over a couple to try and keep her out of big projects. she ended up with a extremly clean 05 gsr.

finally cruising the car more, just got tuned last friday. it made 504whp at 22psi on 93 oct.
i was excited to get it tuned now driving is a little different. seems 500 is alot of power for the street. crazy losing traction on dry roads in 2nd gear with awd haha, i had him keep the rev limit down at 7700 so i dont get too crazy, i dont need all the rpm to have fun.

Nice! I agree also that 500 hp is more than enough to get you in trouble with the law. I recently drove my friend's 2.3L Evo with FP HTA 3582R and it lost traction in second. Crazy fun! You mind posting your setup?
