Front facing turbo without air filter?
Hi Team,
Ive been getting mixed reviews and responses locally and need to know what your thoughts are on running my turbo without a filter?
Ive seen the guys in America running their evo turbos without air filters, my question is the obvious. What of it rains, does it really damage your turbo or just damage your spark plugs? Or are there any damages at all?
I currentlty expose the turbo only during shows.
I will be running Mesh on my Turbo so there's no leaves or any bugs that's forced into the turbo but what about rain?
Weather here in NewZealand is very unpredictable so rather play it safe than sorry.
This is my setup
and this is what i am planning to do

rain isnt the issue at all. it will eat all the rain that gets in there. its dirt and other foreign objects that are the problem.
i recently made the mistake of upgrading the turbos on my pickup right before moving and didnt have time to modify my filters to fit so i have been stuck driving around the past couple months on open turbos and havent had any issues. I even had to drive up and down a dirt road and everything seems ok but i was really careful to drive slow.
i have probably put about 1000 miles on it in the last month and a half.
