Evo VIII or Evo IX???
Been looking into either Evo 8 or Evo 9. I've been around nothing but V8s the past 5 years and the Evo is the only one to really catch my attention as a 4Cyl. I know a little bit about them but not much. I know i want either a 8 or a 9 with a 5 speed for sure but thats about it. What do you guys think would be the best 600hp daily driver?
New to the forums so im not too sure if im posting this in the correct area to begin with. I apologize in advance.

In my opinion being that I've owned both the evo 8 and ix.. I'd say go with a ix... check out the threads that compare all of the different model Evo's and you'll see the benefits of having the ix over the 8(I'm at work otherwise I'd go into detail for you)

they're the same. if you have a 600whp daily it's going to be a built motor with cams and a huge turbo and you're not going to know mivec exists anyways.
9 has the nicer interior, other than that there will be no difference bewteen the two by that point. i guess the front diff will be different and doesn't necessarily get rebuilt if you're not building the tcase

I agree with Demon, by the time you are at that power level you will have upgraded all the things that make a difference between the two cars anyway. The front diff from either car will need upgrading to survive launches at that power level. The ACD is a positive in the handling department but a negative in the reliability and weight, so i would call it a wash. The interior differences are nothing a couple hundred bucks couldn't equalize.

There's no reason to not get a IX, outside of pricing (which is to be expected since it's newer, with all other factors being somewhat equal). Though like most people said, when you're going for 600+ hp, the ease/difficulty of getting there isn't that different between the two models.

Bah, after turbo upgrades, 8 or 9 both are fine. if you want to stay stock turbo, the 9 can make i little more power only because of the 10.5 hotside and bigger compressor housing. my stock 8 turbo hit full boost before 4k so spool is no problem.
