things to add:
1) the OEM filter is pre-lubricated on the gasket so you don't need to oil it -- though doing so won't hurt it
2) since the filter installs upright, pour new oil into the new filter to fill it up before installing it. this will help oil pressure and oil get to the engine right away when you restart it again

+1 to filling up the filter more, I fill mine up, let it soak in for a few mins, and repeat this 2 more times, a bit excessive but just to be on the safe side. I can't remember where I heard it but the extended life stuff isnt' the best for turbo-charged motors, i'm not sure if that's still the case.

I just did my first change using this a couple of days ago and it was mostly helpful, but there are a couple of things that got me...
I tried for 45 minutes to get the damn filter off with my hands and using work gloves because the of the instructions in the write-up. No dice. I had to walk to the auto parts store and buy a filter wrench. Fortunately, the closest shop is about a ten minute walk away. I would highly recommend having a filter wrench before doing this.
The other big gotcha that was not mentioned in the write-up is that taking the damn panel off to get to the front jack point is a major ***** and a half.
Another thing is that the drain plug is bigger than 17mm if you have the OEM oil temp gauge. I am pretty sure that it is 18mm, but not sure. I did not have an 18mm wrench, I had to use my adjustable. Looks like I will be buying some bigger metric wrenches for next time.

I just did my oil change 1 month ago. Also, I changed my brake pad. I am not sure what happen now because my service engine soon light is on. Is there something wrong?
