E-brake rachet disable?

Is it possible to have the locking mechanism work only when you press the release button to lift up and when you let go of the button it locks.
However when you pull the handle without the button pressed it will come up without locking the ebrake on.
Anyone know how to do this?

i did this in my old 180sx. buy a handbrake button with an oversized head, wrap insulation tape around the shaft of the button until it will hold itself against the handbrake surround once pressed. then to lock it, its just simple as pushing the button out. ( hope that made sense )
that was the most simple way i could think of doing it.

There are also machined aluminum alternatives if you are looking for a little form and function. They do the exact same thing that Ausevo7 was describing with tape.
