Stereo Install Question. Please Help!!!

I'm having a huge problem. Here goes....

I got a Kenwood HU. I took it to Chronic Car Audio here in AZ and they said they had to rewire all the speakers and the sub wouldn't work. I was cool with that because I didn't know about the Soundgate adapter I needed.

I did some reading on here and found the Soundgate adapter. I went ahead and bought it so I would hear my sub again.

After some research, I noticed that my HU only had one set of pre-outs.

To fix this problem, I bought an EQ; which is also Kenwood. (http://www.kenwoodusa.com/products/L...&k3=30&pr=2001)

I also bought Sat Radio.

After installing everything, my sub and EQ does not work. It looks like the EQ is working, but when I move the dials, they do nothing to the sound.

I put in the Soundgate adapter. Ran the pre-out from the HU to the EQ in. Connected the front and rear RCA's of the Soundgate adapter to the EQ front and rear. I connected all the supporting wires like ground, power, ect. of the EQ.

I am totally lost here. Please someone help me.

I'm thinking that I didn't connect the blue wire of the Soundgate Adapter correctly.

When they installed my HU, they had to re-wire all the speakers. Do I have to disconnect them or leave them connect. The wire harness was the one that came with the HU. They spliced into the speaker wire that came out of the amp under the seat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

i think i found the one you used.......
that wire is probably a remote turn on, not a ground, you need to hook it up to the red wire on the harness of the radio

tha factory amp is probably not turning on

This is the adapter I bought.

In the instructions, it says "Connect the "amplifier control lead", typically blue in color, of the new receiver to the blue lead of the MITSRCVR.

I hope this helps anyone.

I can try and see if it's the red wire.

Will I have to cut the front and rear speakers that they spliced into so everything works the way I want it to?

ur radio may have to blue wires, one is power antenna lead, it will turn off the amp if a cd is on, the other would be a amp turn on lead. the amp turn on lead is what you need, if you hook up to red the factory amp will be on when you have the key in ignition, you may have turn on pop, etc with red hooked up, sorry i didnt clarify that

how old is the radio, if you can return it and the eq, do so and get one radio that has three sets of rcas, alpine cda9847 or higher would be good choice

I just got it for X-mas from my brother. I know it should work the way I want to do everything. I'm just lost a little. I'll try the red wire and see if that helps.

return everything back the way it came, it sounds like they bypassed the factory amp. and get the factory radio working the way it was, and then put that adapter in

If they rewired your car, they probably unplugged your harness at the amp. If so, then you should plug it back in. Also, the blue wire on your kenwood radio may put out an insufficient current to turn on the eq and the fact. amp. It rare but it happens. You may need a relay or you can attempt what SaOrlando said above. A real stereo shop would have done the install right. You shouldnt have lost the use of your sub.

if they rewired your car, chances are they also ran new speaker leads to every speaker.

I reconnected the amp connector. The funny thing is they left that alone. The big white wire box that also connects to the amp was not connected. I reconnected it. So, I'm going to try what SaOrlando said. I'll let you know.

No, they spliced into each one from the amp. They ran new wires from the HU to the amp. All the speakers are connected in the amp by a big white box.

That's excatly what it was. I connected the blue wire of the adapter with the red wire from the harness. I cut all the speaker wires that they spliced into and it works great. Sound is 10 times better then stock.

Thanks for the help. I owe you one.
