Installed: Saikou DC3 Split Version Dual Chamber Baffled Oil Catch Can
Imo -the best oil catch can for the evo on the market today
http://www.saikoumichi.com/OCC_explanation.htm
http://www.saikoumichi.com/SPLIT_DC3_page.htm
Installation: The kit does come with install instructions, but I needed a few more things.
-needle nose pliers
-small black zip ties
-scissor/channel lock (or something to cut the zip tie end)
-6mm or small flat head screwdriver for clamps
-10mm wrench
-14mm deep well socket for upper strut bar
-12mm socket or wrench
Note:
-When attaching any clamps to any of the fittings, be sure not to over tighten as they can snap.
-I used zip ties to attach the can for the only reason of ease of install/remove to drain. The kit does come with plenty of mounting hardware if you choose to use it.
Intake side with stock airbox
I did not connect the tubing because I plan to intall this can with an aftermarket intake, but I just wanted to show the location for those still runnning a stock box.
I used the front air bag sensor bracket for the install location of the DC3 bracket
The top bolt can be removed by using a 10mm wrench, no need to remove the bottom bolt.
(the sensor bracket is still quite secure with just the one bolt holding it)
btw - dont unplug this sensor or you will get a code
After I attached one of the supplied brackets from the kit to the can - I use a zip tie to secure the can to the car, as you can kinda see.
Also, if you wanted a cleaner look, you might be able to reuse the stock bolt (not much thread length) or replace it with a longer same thread size bolt.
Also- If you had your own bracket or somehow able to bend the supplied piece, this different mounting location could be used.
Finally the routing of the supplied hose
Looking at the picture below, the hose would look better by routing under the stock upper ic pipe from the can to the case.
Btw- if I did install this can with the stock airbox, you would have seen the top hose connected to the case and the bottom hose to the stock intake pipe.
PCV
Note:
-Installing the hose first before the catch can, can give you more room to work with, but its up to you.
The best spot that I could find is right under the left side upper strut bar
The bar can easily be removed with a 14mm deep well socket or wrench.
Remove the nut which holds a bracket - 12mm socket or wrench
Now I pulled on the bracket enough to slide the supplied DC3 bracket into place as shown.
After I had tighted down the nut, I attached the catch can with a zip tie just on the top hole.
Use the needle nose pliers to move the clamp off the top hose and then pull the top part of the hose off.
Next remove the outer hose sleeve by using the pliers again.
This makes it easier to move the lower clamp off.
Move the lower clamp and remove the stock piece.
Install the hose whatever way you like.
Add the DC3 and attach the hoses to it
Btw - The bottom of can has space, and does not rest against anything that might cause an issue. Unless you run with the drain open, then drops of oil would cause a problem.

For the evo, most people buy the 5/16 hose barb

i kept them long so that when i snip the zip tie that holds the catch can in place, i am able to pull it up farther and get at the bottom drain easier than i would be able to do with a shorter hose.
also i dont have to disconnect any of the hoses. just pull it up high enough to drain the oil out
