To make along story short; I ordered a set while in Japan and ended up getting one of each. So I kept it and ordered another one. The plastic cover was scratched up on the other flat black one, so I swapped it out. That's why I had to open them.

Love my JDM 8's. But I would suggest that everyone that buys either the 8's or 9's get a protective headlight film so that you don't get pwned by rocks. It's a good way to keep $700 dollar headlights looking brand new forever.

if the lens cover has stress marks in it that only shows up when the lights are on, how do I resolve that?
am I being clear on the issue?

I agree the jdm 8 looks way better, but I do like the jdm 9 mainly for it's rare factor. out of all the jdm headlights I've seen, only about a handful of them are jdm 9s
