Relocating rear bumper bolts to fit agressive wheels
Hi all, I'm currently attempting to fit my 18x9.5 +15's onto my Evo. As most would know this requires removing/relocating the bolts and tabs that hold the rear bumper onto the rear guard panel.
Can everyone that has had to do this mod please post up your experiences and exactly what you did? I know a few people have just moved the tabs back about an inch but I wanted to find out what is involved exactly?
Even better, if other people have come up with other solutions please share them. Pictures would help too!

get in touch with this guy OP and from the looks of your wheel specs. you're probably running the same rims as the guy in the link

I have no idea how you are getting away with those wheels specs and not relocating the bolts? Unless your rear is sitting quite high or you have some serious camber going on?

18x9.5 +15
The clearance from strut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 4mm MORE
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 42mm
18x10.5 +30

I've got an extra 2 millimeters on you . I stand by what I said you are either running serious camber or 4WD suspension. Eitherway you don't require the bolt mod so props to you

If your anticipated / current wheel & tire set-up cant do this, then they dont fit.
The pic shows the rear strut removed, fully stroking the travel & making the proper clearances. Any track day or even aggressive street driven Lancer can see this type of suspension articulation
(Adding aggressive camber or raising CoilOver height is not the way to get your wheels to fit)
(Rear bumper bolt relocated / fender roll & pull (275/40/17 tire +29 offset -1.0 rear camber)
Peace

I had the same problem with 18x9.5 +30 275/35 tires on them. I had to relocate the bolt. I just drilled two holes after the bolt, closer to the back of the car and used some nuts, bolts and washers to secure it and then cut off the tab. It holds just fine and doesn't hit any more.
