one other thing i thought of: night mode. hopefully this thing has a night mode that works (such as waze, mainly) that will send all apps into night mode when the headlights are on or something (depending on how you wire it)

good question. right now the radio screen is more or less black, and I turn off the screen if it's distracting. Google maps turns to it's night mode, but I don't know what determines that exactly. This is with my current 4.4.4 joying, not the 5.1.1 that is coming. I will be sure to test that out though.

the other thing I'm in not in love with is that the 5.1.1 goes into a low power mode, not a complete off. no problem If you drive every day. if you leave the car for weeks at a time like I do though.... the AGM Optima yellowtop I have will be fine, but forget about it for any small battery guys

interesting, not an issue for me either as the car doesn't sit for extended periods of time. i think two weeks is the longest it's ever sat. inline switch would solve that easily. that was one thing i heard about the old ones was they took a while to boot where-as this new one was super fast due to not actually turning off

ill see what else i can come up with for you to test once you have it

also interested. I ordered all my pieces today for a double din, just haven't ordered the unit itself. I'm leaning heavily towards the Sony XAV-AX100 now

Nice looking radio! I might be doing a bit of research on that radio for it's specs and functionality options.

Only thing I wish it had were an HD radio tuner and multiple bluetooth devices, but honestly I likely won't be playing music with it unless my phone is plugged in so I dont think the bluetooth limitation will both me. the GF wants one and will likely get one before i do, i'll report back with my findings in a few months

i'm still curious to hear about kyoo's radio

sorry guys I've just been unable to get any car work done these days. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend, should literally be a pnp from the old unit, with no differences in wiring

any one replace the interior speakers, if so any recommendations, i'm seeing the speaker sized at both 5 1/4s and 6 1/2s? I don't understand why both crutchfield and best buy do this ... looking for ideas here.

I know the previous owner did on mine. I can't recall the brand at the moment but I think they're silver speakers with red lettering. they put amplifiers in the back and lots of heavy wiring smh. Wish the car was left stock when it came to the speakers.

Speakers are probably a waste of money. the car has such poor sound deadening that when you're actually driving you won't be able to notice any difference. Put a sub in and call it good. I ended up with a shallow 8" sub and made a box to go under the passenger seat

finally in, believe it or not lol. was 60 degrees out, had to take advantage.

Works great, and plugs into all the previous wiring, which is great because i forgot we did some splicing. screen looks great, sound is great (for me, not a music aficionado at all), lightning quick, good amount of storage data, etc. fitment is perfect. only qualm i have is that is says "JOYING" at the bottom. may take a magic marker to it, idk.

let me know about questions:

glad to see it fits, some people who reviewed it said it was huge and they had to do some modification on their trim pieces to get it to fit
