Talking Helix Dna Track Coilovers Installed(pics Inside)56k Bake A Cake...

just installed the Helix DNA Coilovers/track edition. it was the quickest and easiest coilover install i have ever done. i was done in just under 3 hours including height adjustments!!

i also put on some 17x9 Konig Villians that are no longer made. i had these for my 1990 Mustang that i was converting over to 5 lug. i just never put them on. so i tried them. no fitment issues at all. the only other set i have seen on an evo is from TurboTrix. they have Hoosier tires on them. these wheels are fairly light for a 17x9 at 21lbs each. you can read about them
here: http://www.maximummotorsports.com/ click on products and online ordering, then choose "wheels" this was where i would purchase most of my suspesnion parts from for my mustang. they also have some very nice tools for the garage mechanic racer also. check out the "tools" section. WARRTALON are you reading?? these would work great for your track days and are inexpensive.(camber gauge and bumpsteer gauge)

anyways on to the pics:

side profile...

nice and FAT 17x9...245/45/17

overall impressions of the coilovers...

seem to be nicely made. i left the dampening adjustments alone for now. only adjusted the height.

the ride is not as JARRING as the stock set up. it forgives a little on the street. that can be compensated for by adjusting the dampening force a little. i will let them work for awhile before i adjust them again dampening wise. i would like to see the limits on the "factory" settings first and go from there.

anyways, thank you for looking. OBTW, i wont be keeping these wheels on the car because my SSR SP1s are going to arrive tomorrow. i will make another height adjustment once i get tires for the 18x9s.

Damn....this computer I have at work blows big chunks because I cannot see the pictures and I cannot download the program to view them. I will look at em when I get home.

Glad you got them on your car! Saturday I will be putting mine on. Then I just have to figure out my whole digi/cam/posting crap. So I may shoot an email to you, badhabit90 for fun guidance on getting my pics up correctly. Hopefully not because it cant be all that difficult.

I would say your car looks good, if it did, cuz Im sure it does.....but...oh well I wont say more.

/\ they ride fairly nicely. my wifes TEIN FLEX on her car seemed to be about the same. they are definitaly responsive as i took the car out the other night with the 17x9 wheels on them. they seem to be a little more forgiving than the stock set up. they dont junce you as much.

Gary@Gruppe S-your welcome.

My coilovers are installed and I like them very much. Still working on camera issues for pictures. More feedback to come in the future. I say they are definitely worth the price. Good work Gruppe-S.

thank you for your concern there Ben. YES i did tighten them down.

UPDATE: after about two weeks driving on them, they come loose a little(the bottom locking nuts). i have to retighten them down with the tool. dont know why they come loose but they do. im thinking of running the other lock nut down to the bottom and leaving the one on top alone. the spring pressure will keep it in place, whereas the bottom one will just wiggle loose over time.

Good to hear.

Also if you want those things to stick. Put your spanner wrench on there and give them some love taps with a hammer. I do this with all the coilover installs just to make sure they never come loose.
