I'm getting alot of steering wheel vibration under mild breaking not so much under light breaking and none under hard breaking. It's not the breaks i had them check and the break pedal doesn't vibrate. I also hear a noise as if something is loose in the front when i turn and go over a bump but not when I'm going straight. What could be the problem? If i take it to the dealer would they be able to tell me what it is without them actually doing any work on the car? Thanks guys

ummmm you migt want to check the rotors also usually when they start getitng warped youll get a wheel viberation under moderate breaking

Put some new rotors on the front and see if that helps.

brakes where checked and that would also cause pedal vibration wouldn't it?

the only time my wheel vibrates is when im goin over 150 and thats only because i use hand braking to much

If you take it to the dealer they shouldn"t charge you anything just to diagnose if your rotors are warped which sounds like the problem. Had the same thing happen to me and I didn't really feel the vibrations through the pedal that much.

Not necessarily the rotors. This weekend I took the snows off and reinstalled the Advans. I now have a low brake pressure shaking. I think it is because the dumb *** previous owner never added air to the tires and wore both edges and not the center. Now that they are inflated properly they are convex with uneven blocks. The tires also follow every road irregularity.

Check the wear pattern of your tires. You don't have to buy new rotors if yours are warped. At minimum take them off and have the run out checked. They can probably be turned (but if they are warped they will probably warp again). Alignment should also be looked at. Good luck.

^New rotors can be had for $200 from shops like GiroDisc and MAPerformance.

Warped rotors is a misleading term. Its pad material transfer. If it happens under light braking - its pad transfer.

Also check your tie-rods. If one is loose or worn it will cause the same feeling BUT when that fails it will take the wheel off your car.

And lastly, make sure wheels are balanced and lugs are all torqued to spec.


Now that noise over bumps could be the start of a blown or going strut and/or top hat (perch mount).

^+1. Personally, I was never able to get rid of the vibration by following recs to clear pad material. After changing OEM's to Centric slotted, no further problems

Ok so my tie-rods were lose and got the changed and still a bit of vibration. Gonna get the rotors checked this weekend.

Even though I think it’s your rotors too. While your wheels are off you might as well get them balanced.
