I have a low mileage car and my ball joint but the boot is torn from someone who previously worked on my car.

Can you get a new rubber boot for the ball joint from the dealer?

Does anyone know how to remove the old boot and put the new one on? Does the joint need to be pressed out?

I was playing with it a little today it doesn't seem as if the rubber boot just slides off.

yes you can order just the boot. I had to do that not long ago. But I found my robispec ball joints and put those in.

It appears that the boot simply slides over the ball joint edge. Hmm, I guess I'll just try that.

you can remove old boot with a small flat head screwdriver, just pray it from 1 side first and then from left and right until its off. Clean old grease with a towel, apply new grease to the ball joint and inside of the new boot. Slide the new boot on, and gently tap from each side until it is seated. U may also use a round Socket and tap it gently to get the boot on. Very easy job to do.
