I was wondering if anyone had the measurements of clearance needed to clear brembos. I picked up some 17x7.5 +40 to see but I know that some wheels have thicker (deeper?) spokes and want to measure for mounting point on rotor outward radially and axially. Does anyone know how far in both directions the fronts sit?

Definitely an odd size wheel. Narrow & w/the high inboard offset

Never seen anyone post the X-factor dimension needed to fit over the Brembos. Unlikely those will fit even w/a spacer
Item 6 is the X-factor cavity area

Thanks or the info man. It was a good deal I jumped on before looking to much I guess. But with the offset and the width difference, there is only an 8mm difference in mount point on rotor to the front lip axially. And it looks like there is a bit of clearance with the brembos and stocks. I'll have to check into the x-factor of the stocks and see if I need to find new rims :/

How would 17x8+38 with 235/45 tires fit on an Evo VI GSR?

I have a set of RE30's off of my DC5 sitting in my basement. Planning on importing a 6 over the winter. Wondering how these will fit. IIRC, stock Evo 6 GSR wheels are 17x7.5 +40ish?

Plan on selling my RE30's regardless. Just curious as to how they'd fit.

My skill set is strictly EVO 8 & 9 so hate to offer a solid opinion. My good guess is that the noted size is likely OK. As you noted the stock offset is over +40?

Have you tried this forum. http://www.lancerregister.com/index.php

Friends, please give an advice to a newbie

I want to put 18*8.75 +35 wheels with 255/35/18 Fed RSR tires on a 04 VIII RS. + wish to drop the car for 1 inch with springs. My aim is to reach good look and to avoid any fender rolling.

Please advice, will the set above work without any possibility of contact with suspension or body under hard driving?

Thanks!

Ran your no.s on calc

Your pick of tire & wheel is very modest & will work just fine w/a simple mod

Running stockish rear camber a rear roll maybe be needed. Its possible that you maybe able to avoid it buts its going to be close on stock camber

looking at a few options - 225/50/17, 225/55/17, 235/50/17

for commuting to and from events, looking for a little taller gearing, a little less rolling resistance to maximize fuel economy.

Cant help too much other than calling out differences from stock. The 225/55 really puts it out of range w/a 5% plus speedo error

Stock 235/45/17 Proposed 235/50/17

Diameter: 643.3mm VS 666.8mm
Circumference: 2021mm VS 2094.8mm
Poke: 63.6mm VS 63.6mm
Inset: 139.6mm VS 139.6mm
Speedo error: 0% VS -3.52%
Reading at 30mph: 30mph VS 28.94mph
Reading at 60mph: 60mph VS 57.89mph
Ride height gain: 0mm VS 11.75mm
Arch gap loss: 0mm VS 11.75mm

Why not run the stock 235/45?

thanks, i know what the percentage differences are. not running stock because i'd like narrower for lower rolling resistance and taller for lower revs on the highway.

well i just checked the suspension height, i don't think it'll handle the extra 1.4" at full compression. i'll probably go with 225/50-17 - slightly taller, slightly narrower

I currently run a 18x9.5 +22 w/ 255/35/18 and am trading for a set of 18x8.5 +38 (I think) with 235/40/18. Would it be possible to swap tires? It seems like my tires might be too wide for the new wheels and his tires might be too narrow for mine. Any advice would be appreciated.

The tire chart that I use notes all is OK. You can run the 255's on the 8.5" wheel & run the 235's on the 9.5". IMO, the 255's are Ok w/me as I have run the same tire on the EVO X wheel which is the same spec. Not a fan of the 235's on the 9.5" wheel but it will work
