Help! Whats wrong with my Brakes

** update 1/6/12
car is still not working**

ok...so here it goes.

After doing a brake job / bleed the system wont hold pressure after pumping the pedal...found out fluid was leaking passed the pistons in the caliper on one of the front calipers. before i found that out i thought it was the brake master cylinder...so...

did a caliper rebuild on both fronts
replaced brake master cylinder
once rebuild was done I noticed one of the SS lines was damaged...replaced this
rebleed entire system.

now it holds a tiny bit of pressure but not much

so pump pump pump...firm pedal..wait 10 seconds press brakes and pedal goes to floor.

Whats going on here?

I'm really sick and tired of dealing with this as I've gone through 4 or 5 bottles of motul and 3 bottles of Endless RF-650!!

*******
update from page 2
I noticed a small amount of brake fluid on the back of the pads after pulling the brake pads out, pistons weren't coming out properly (2 out of 4 and uneven)

I purchased Used but working calipers from an evom member in this thread, installed them and they seem to be working ok (need to pull pads out and fully inspect again) I noticed much more pressure on the rotor when the pedal was pressed (brake pads squeezing the rotor) so this seemed like a good sign, but once I got the air out of them the problem was once again the same...pedal goes to floor still and does not hold

pressure.

****
edit from post 92

stock rubber lines back on the car
no fix.

************
things done so far
replace brake lines
replaced BMC twice
replace front brake calipers due to possible leak (twice)
replaced ABS module
Hard lines inspected..no visual damage
Push rod Inspected / no need for adjustment
Pedal adjustment inspected / no need for adjustment

bleeding method : everything from cross bleed to front/back and anything you can think of.

Im no expert, but my thoughts are:

Stop using Motul until we get this figured out. Use some lesser expensive fluid

The caliper piston seal leak was certainly a problem but sounds like you have corrected. Im assuming there are no more fluid leaks?

Sounds like there is still air in the system. Are you bleeding in the correct sequence?

Other than that, hoping there is not a brake master cylinder problem

EDIT. Have you read this How To ?

yep I've done tons of bleeds/flushes and have ended up with less then perfect results but not one this bad, I can't see any leaks anywhere but I suppose there has to be.

Please give input on what calipers you are running. I would assume stock, but assumptions can get people into trouble.

When you replaced the brake master cylinder, did you have any problems reinstalling the new unit? I am guessing that you might have caused some damage to either brake master cylinder lines or the brake booster itself (where the master cylinder is mounted) and caused a vacuum leak...resulting in no pressure to the brakes.

Nope, install went smoothly...the system does hold more pressure then before but still nearly goes to the floor ..while before it actually went completely to the floor.

the brake master cylinder was purchased new.

Slave Cylinder..which part of my braking system is this?

Sorry if I'm uneducated but I'm only aware of brake booster brake master then your abs module and then the calipers..am I missing something?

is your car equipped w/abs? if so, you still have air in your system = abs module. find a dirty / gravely road & do some 30/40mph braking to get the abs to intervein. if you going slow the abs doesnt modulate the same or something like that.

if no abs, then you got bigger problems.....sorry

Have you confirmed you're not leaking at any of the brake line connections? There aren't too many to check (two at MC, 6 at ABS unit, one at each end of each flexible line). Might be worth watching each while a friend steps on the pedal.

Also, have you confirmed that the brake booster is good? The factory service manual lists three pretty quick things to check to confirm it's working properly.

I guess the last thing is if you're sure the caliper rebuild fixed the problem. If you're interested, I've got spare calipers (all four) from trying to fix my own, never-ending brake problem (and I'm semi-local).

yea I checked all brake line connections and noticed 0 leaks..what I haven't done yet is take my brake pads back out to see if maybe some fluid is still going around the pistons...I guess this would tell me my pistons are no good and I would buy yours...

I'm in Hercules (bay area) where are you?

what brake issues did you have?

Try bench bleeding the caliper to make sure its not a piston?
