Hey guys i just bought a used set of evo X gsr wheels and tires for my evo8. The tires are mounted and balanced but do not have valve stems installed and the tpms sensor has been removed. Will i be able to just get the stems installed at a tire shop or do i have to also have the tire removed and rebalanced to install new stems.

you don't need to dismount the tire to install a valve stem. id still suggest getting the wheels rebalanced regardless just to be safe.

You still should get the wheels and tires balanced. You do have to remove the tire to remove the tpms, so if the wheels came off an Evo X(the guy you bought from) he would have had to do this and this would have made the combo unbalanced.

Ok thanks guys for the replies. I actually dont have the wheels in my possession my brother picked them up for me in the state he lives in for me. They were off a evo x and CL ad said the tires were balanced but he removed the TPMS and valvestems for his new wheels. But I will go ahead and get them all re balanced to be safe.

Yup, take them apart so you can get the proper valve and such in there.

Typically, the tire does not come off the wheel to remove the sensor. A good tire tech can just use the head breaker to push the tire over the sensor (carefully) and then far enough out of the way to pull the sensor out.

Have them balanced regardless because the sensor is heavy enough to cause an imbalance when it's removed..
