If you want to replace just the struts I'd suggest finding a low mileage clean set of MR bilsteins. Can be had for ~$400.

I feel sure KYB makes an aftermarket set for a fraction of the price. If you want a good strut, bilstein can be hard for around 800.00 for the set and is the perfect combo in my view. Good Luck.

You should be able to find some used Bilsteins (either the OEM MR's or the HD's) in the classified section.

I don't show an app for 03, but many use/say the 04 HD's work fine.

03-06 should be fine.

Its a Evo not a civic. Has anyone put KYB's on their car for any other reason then they were cheap? Worst reason to do something.

+1 on finding a good set of used Bilsteins. That would be an excellent cheap upgrade.

I have KYB on my car and I like them. The MR suspension is for people who want a cushy ride.

^ Although they are much more comfortable than the stock KYBs, that is not the only reason. I use my MR Bilstein with Swift Spec-R springs for autocross and road racing days and let me tell you that they perform flawlessly. An upgrade for me would be KW Variants or Ohlins.

The only back to back I ever saw was then the car magazine writers were running the GSR and the MR through the cones and to their surprise the GSR was quicker. This with the 'upgraded suspension' and aluminum roof of the MR. They attributed this to the stiffer suspension of the GSR.
