evo 9 mr warped rotors?
I just recently purchased an evo 9 Mr and was told the rotors were slightly warped. You can feel the pulsating at 45+ mph. I assumed that's what it was as well after I test drove it. I took it to my friend whose a mechanic to look it over on the lift and he mentioned that the rotors are floating rotors and they shouldn't warp? They are the stock drilled and slotted brembos to my knowledge but if they're not warped would could that be? Thanks

Stock rotors are solid, not driller/slotted.
Either way; rotors don't warp. They just have uneven pad deposit on them.

My mechanic looked at it and he said the front right tire is out of alignment. I am 99% sure that is the problem. I had my friend riding in the passenger seat the other day and he said when I applied the brakes he could feel it on his right foot more than his left. So when he drove I sat there and felt the same. I am getting new tires for the winter soon so I will get it aligned and see how it affects it.

I would resurface the rotors. I had this exactly same problem on my Golf GTI and turned out to be uneven pad deposits on front rotors.
My Evo is slowly starting to show the same problem. But as the Evo rotors are 355x32mm drilled Brembo ones, I'll go to 3 or 4 track events before thinking on resurfacing them. Cracks might appear at anytime. When the time to replace them come I'll go with Type III slotted Brembo rotors.

When you replace or resurface the rotors I recommend you clean the oxidation off the surface where the rotor sits onto the hub, and where the wheel sits onto the rotor and hub as well. Once you clean it off, there is a product by castrol, called castrol optimol hot paste. It should be greyish in color. Apply that to the surface where the rotor sits on and where the wheel sits onto the rotor and hub.
This is supposed to keep the surface from forming that rust that makes the rotor stick to the hub. This oxidation can create an uneven surface for the rotor to sit, causing a situation like a warped rotor feeling when braking.
I dont have the part number for it, but if you use acidic cleaners on the wheels, or the car sits for periods of time and rust develops on the rotor surface, there is a zinc spray you can apply that is safe to use and keeps the rotors from rusting. I will try and find that part number if you care.
At my job, we have lots of brake issue concerns and this repair is what we do at work for Mercedes Benz vehicles, and considering the amount of brake vibration concerns with evos, it may be a good solution for us as well.
