Have had Cusco zero 2-e coil overs installed on my evo ix for about 1k miles. Dont' daily the car anymore. So when in my garage and I am pulling out i hear this noise loudly. I tried to capture it on video with the car off and turning the wheel. You can hear it after you hear the tires moving. It happens if I just am sitting in the car and turn the wheel or I am pulling out of my garage at very slow speed. Sounds like a coil binding noise. I can feel it in the wheel as well.. Any thoughts as to what this is?

Wish I could see the video because I am having the exact same problem. When turning my car around sharp corners or backing out of my driveway it will create a popping or knocking sound. Me and my friend took it to a parking lot and he watched the coilover as I would turn the wheel and you can see the spring binding and then slipping, creating the sound.

Hard to tell what that might be. I take it you have unlocked the steering wheel & just turning the wheels as they sit on the garage floor? What happens when you get the tires off the ground & turn the wheel?

When I first replaced my ball joints w/the Whiteline roll center kit I was getting a tight squeaky sound from the joints

If it is coil bind, maybe you have too much preload?

Its the noise between the tire noise. Hard to hear. Need to get another set of hands...

Everything looks clean. Nothing worn. I can try and put some grease in there to see if that stops it.

It may just be the camber plates, though. You needed to have someone ride in the engine bay while you drive the car. LOL

Staying on topic though, I have camber plates too so I'll take a look at those as well. Never occurred to me it could be coming from them.

It's an articulation point. OEM is quiet since they are rubber, obviously. LOL

Typically it's that the nylon bushing inside the spherical bearing that wears and allows the ball to move in the socket. This usually happens about a week before you see a set of "slightly used" camber plates come up for sale LOL

LOL.... Ok may try and grease them and see if that helps.

Call your Coilover Manufacturer and describe to them what its doing. Its probably your top Pillow Bearing, you will have to loosen your front strut bar and take the coil over out from the bottom and after that its a pretty simple tear down just make sure you remember where you had everything set to. Just did mine yesterday and it fixed the problem good as new.

Thanks. I actually put the car up on the lift the other day and noticed passenger side front didn't have any pre load on the spring. Tightened that up and it appears to have solved the noise issue.
