I'd recommend a 235-245 width on that wheel, depending on your choice of tire. A 255 won't feel quite as sharp. I run a 255 on 9.5-10" wheels. The X Enkei is only 8.5". As a bonus, they are cheaper.

Stick with 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 so you get a squared fitment on wheel instead of a pinched fitment as it would happen with 255/35/18

Some basic info before making decision:
- rolling fenders or not
- fan of spacers or not
- you already know calipers

For me, street but mostly track set up:
- 17x9.5 +38 RPF1 with 275/35
- also run 17x10 +38 295/35

I'm on stock size calipers but AP racing. I run spacers with upgraded ARP studs.
I know a lot others run 18x10" size w/o spacer. Requires lots of fender pull. I might get to this point, but as long as I am winning.....my set up is proving effective. 😉

what type of racing do you do? what brand tire? have you noticed any squirming running a 275? if so, worth it for the grip?

i'm looking for more tire options, so running anything other than a 255 (i've always run a square setups) would be beneficial and give me a TON of choices.

thanks!

Why not 18x9.5+27~35 and 265/35/18?

Get a set of Volk CE28 or RE30 in 17x9+35. You will be able to run 245-265 tires (depending on if you roll your fenders). Tires for 17" wheels are much cheaper than for 18's.

You can find used sets in Japan. There are a couple ways to search but this is the one I prefer http://isicar.mine.nu/

You should come to vegas and help me with some fender work so I can go to 275's the next time I buy tires.

You know it. I'll all about cheap consumables.
Enkei 17x9.5 +38 Hankook 255 Track
Rota 18x9 +30 Nitto 255 Street. Until the tires die. Hopefully I'll have another set of 17s by then. Narrower too. I like my street tires nice and cheap.
