FWIW I run 255s on a 9.5 wheel. The Hankooks fit pretty well and the Bridgestones look like they are stretching too much (I like a straight sidewall). My point being check how each tire fits to pick the right width, as the guys above have mentioned.
A slight stretch is okay (I actually do appreciate the response I have) but you don't want to go too wide unless you are an autocross-only guy.
Sounds like I need a 255 NT-01!!

The NT01's are better if fitted without bulge and slight amount of stretch, if they are too wide on the wheel they feel a bit vague and mushy.

If they are fitted like my example above, they feel MUCH better.

Good to know. That's how the R-S3 was. So perhaps a 245 NT-01. Yay. They are cheaper LOL

My NT01's def feel better on the 10" wide wheel than they did on the 9.5.

Hmmm. I may wait on NT01's for when I go 18" wheels. Thanks for all the input. As a side note I've been checking on used Conti series takeoffs, if I go that route I will post up on everything. For now with my tirerack connection I'm leaning towards the ZII SS.

I was looking at the take offs too, at one point. I just figured they are probably heat cycled out. I bought a used set once and they were hard as rocks, so I'm gun shy LOL. Cheap, though.

I second the NT01's, but yeah people seem to have better luck running them on a 10" than a 9.5" for whatever reason. They still have been go to me, though, so can't complain after two events.

I run 265 35 18 RS3 on my evo x gsr with 500WHP, Ohlins and GiroDisc 2pc rotors with carbotech xp10 pads and I got about 8000 street spirited miles including trips to the Dragon etc and 2 track days (3 20 min session each day with some additional practice lapping) out of them. Had plenty of tread depth left but the latest day at pocono raceway with mostly high speed right hand turns and braking the tire is looking pretty dead on my left side. I was pleased with the performance as long as I kept them below 33psi, i would start the sessions out at 29 and it would end around 33.

I liked the performance but i wish i could find something that would stand up to the heat better, maybe get a dedicated set of R888 for track only.

Avoid R888, they get super greasy and slick real quick. Go NT01

That's interesting to me.

All along I've been told and read on various forums that the NT01 and R888 compounds were exactly the same, but just a different tread pattern. I'm sure there's no way to truly confirm this, however.

I've tracked my supra with R888's, but only autox'd an evo on NT01's so I can't confirm or deny this. Just had to comment.

They're definitely different. R888 do not heat cycle well. NT01's heat cycle great until they cord. R888's are also easier to overheat.

I've ran RE71R tires in 245 size at three track events so far and have not found them getting greasy. It's east to mistake tires getting greasy for tires being overheated due to pushing them too much in improper way. What I'm talking about is overheating front tires only.
The goal for the driver is to distribute load on tires as evenly as possible. Therefore keeping the tire temps in check. If the car is pushed in such a way that only the fronts get too hot (usually due to improper apexing the corner), then the car will feel mushy and understeery.
That's only my educated opinion though.
