Austin's 450whp FP Black 92 octane

Austin is a submariner in the US Navy and when he isnt deployed cruising around underwater he enjoys beating on his 2008 Evo X GSR. After having a rod bolt failure it was time to build a motor. Fortunately we were able to salvage the cylinder head after replacing valves. The build is pretty basic but worked very well thanks in part to our new Evo X Test Pipe Cutout.

Build-

ER stock sleeve 2.0L
Wiseco 1400HD 9:1 pistons
K1 connecting rods
GSC standard size valves
Stock cams
Stock port head
Fuel Injector Clinic 900cc Hi-Z injectors
ETS 3.5" FMIC kit
Forced Performance FP Black
Greddy cat back
AMS widemouth downpipe
AMS Hi flow cat testpipe

All of this put together with the tune was able to make decent power on the break in tune-

I tried running more boost but the extra backpressure and EGT generated by the restriction of the cat didnt keep it consistent. On 92 octane it seems 24 is about the limit most of the time with any type of cat. We have been offering the ER Test Pipe Cutout for the 8/9 first as a in house option and now as an online item that you can order. We hadnt had time to mock up one for the X until recently, so Austin's car was used as the guinea pig. The results were astounding-

The air has gotten really dry here lately with a recent weather change though the dyno cell temps really havent altered much since its full enclosed. However for the sake of keeping it fair here is the comparison between the cat, test pipe cutout turned off, and the testpipe cutout allowed to open-

I used SAE correction which means it corrects for 77* air at 30% humidity for sea level. Using STD correction which is for a 60* day the numbers are better overall but the spread stays about the same. Gotta love no humidity

Aaron

Really nice gains from that test pipe dump over the high flow cat. Thanks for doing the comparison and sharing the results Aaron!

Thanks guys. In case anyone is interested in the the Test Pipe Cutout for the X, it will be available on our store shortly for $450. This isnt an ill fitting piece, it was carefully jigged and setup to clear all the underbody components and not sacrifice any clearance.

wow great numbers with stock cams. I made similar numbers on my 8 with a red on 93. I'm assuming it's a ball bearing due to it reaching full boost at around 4k?
