black E what's the max turbo speed for the 8374? Is it 115K like the 9174?

Both the 8374 and 9174 are 128k max.
Even though the 9174 shares the 9180 compressor and its map it's the turbine the determines the max turbo speed.

So the only reason the 9180 ate itself was because of overspeed? If it wasn't over spun do you think it would last like the 9174?

I don't think so. Everyone I've heard of that was pushed has popped the turbine wheel.

Does the 7670 have overspeed issues like the 9180 or is that limited to that turbo b/c of turbine size?

I guess pump gas boost or road course tune with lowered boost would be fine for these turbos like you mentioned. I would hate to know high fast my 20g has spun to make the power/torque it has made... still going strong though!

Sorry I haven't been on here in a bit.
I still have the same turbo in the car although the motor gave up after switching to a Motec ECU and 2 years of hard abuse. I'm at the moment taking a brake from racing the car but it is up and running with a new motor.

what type of motor did you put in it? Also, does the 7670 have any overspeed issues, whats the max boost anyone has heard of running on a 7670 without issue re the turbo?

As the turbine wheels get smaller, the more tolerant they are of being spun beyond their design limits. So, the 70mm wheel will be more tolerant to overspeed than the 74mm, and the 63mm even more so.
