shortie antennae question

I know perrin has a shortie antennae for the X, but i've heard that
the reception isn't as good.

I notice that even with the stock antenna, FM reception is kinda weak, and I don't want to get worse reception if I change it out with a shortie.

Comments on reception w/ shortie antennaes?

I just cut mine like a few have done. I dont see any significant reception loss.

I have the Perrin 4" shorty and the reception is the same as the stock antenna. The fitment is also perfect, though it is longer then I would like so I might be going down to the 2"

I have the Perrin shorty made for the 8/9 on my X. It leaves about an 1/8" gap between the antenna base and the mount point. The reception is no diff then stock. Does Perrrin now make a shorty for the X?

yes(ish), http://www.evoxparts.com/evoxparts/P...O-X-p-266.html
don't know if it's the same one as the 8/9, but this site says it's for the X and that's what I ordered. Works just fine...
