replacing tweeters in non rockford
Please help me on this becausw their is incredible difference in the rockford fosgate system that my girl has in her 2014 lancer se and my ****ty non rockford tweeters in my 14" evo x. I need to know thetweeter size and a good choice on replacing them. Anyone? I need better quality sound! After listening to her system... it sounded like my evo 8 ssl and now I want that sound back! Tweeters will help. If anyone know the size and the difficulty installing them please let me know. Thanks.
Any tweeter suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks.

In the non-rockford system, all speakers are powered off the extremely small amplifier in the head unit. This gives you about 15 watts per channel @ 4 ohms. The factory tweeters in a non-rockford system receive a full bandwidth signal thats filtered through a resistor on the positive side, blocking low frequencies that could damage the tweeter and limiting power deliver to about 5 watts.
There is no aftermarket tweeter that will sound better than the factory with only 5 watts to work with. (disclaimer - it might sound better at low volume, but as soon as you go to crank it up it will breakup and distort like mad)
The best thing to do here is to replace the front mids and tweets with an aftermarket component system. With the limited power, anything mid to high end would be a waste unless you plan on adding an amplifier. (as most quality speaker systems typically need at least 50 watts)
My recommendation here would be the JL Audio TR650-CSI. They can be had for about $100, install into the factory locations without much modification, and will sound WAY better than stock on your limited power levels. There are many other options in this price range, but be weary, there are a lot of bull**** systems in this price range.
