Not sure why you are blaming Mitsu for customers removing the factory equipment which is safe?

Read people, read. AMS is not saying there is anything wrong at all with the factory setup; in fact, the factory setup with numerous heatshields is a very nice design. The problem is when owners remove those factory heatshields.

Wow I knew it got hot but wow! I just helped put on a new GTX and all the factory heat shields fit like a glove, stock manifold though.

Thanks for the info. I just installed a tubular manifold, I thought the coating would have been enough. Map shield here we come.

One of the reasons I chose the AMS turbo kit. It comes with all the proper hestshielding, wrap, flameguard, etc. Before I had a stock frame tubular manifold and melted my cam sensor, valve cover, and charred the insulation on the firewall.

I ordered my firewall heatshield today. Cheap insurance imo. If stuff still starts melting I will have to get a custom one to cover my MAP mani.

Quoting myself. So I haven't drove my car much at all since my new motor was put in last fall (or finished anyway). Here is like 1500 miles tops on the manifold i have.

Ps. I started smelling burning and was like WTF. I have the MAP firewall heatshield but am still trying to figure out how the hell to install it, doesn't seem to fit over my manifold, but I might be retarded haven't tried hard yet lol.

So basically...don't run no heatshields guys! I am lucky this wasn't a fire!
