Hey everyone. I was at a dealer today in Northern NJ: Paramus Mitsubishi.

When I walked in, they had the ACD Pump in-stock. I was expecting to fork out the ~$2k (+/- $200) in parts/labor. They also told me that I was the lucky winner of a new/extended warranty on the ACD Pump: 10 years / 100,000 miles.



Final Bill for Parts + Labor of ACD Pump replacement: $0.00

Call your local dealers today and see if you can get this great deal before Mitsu changes their minds!!

FYI- the first guy who I spoke with didn't know it was covered under warranty--the guy who appeared to be the service manager was the one who had to chime in & mention that it was now covered.

Also FYI, my 2008 Lancer Evolution GSR is Stock, 67,6xx miles and threw the DTC code: c161e

Everyone and anyone looking/posting on this thread that has gone through or is currently going through this issue, please, I greatly encourage and urge each one of you to follow the above directions/link and file a claim with the gov't. We should not sit back and let mitsu bend us over like this. This is a failure on so many levels. It boggles the mind how they can release a vehicle like this with no improvement for 6+ years despite being aware of this vulnerability. I wonder how EU/UK/JDM Evo owners are dealing with this.

Bottom line, absolutely everyone that has been affected by this should file a claim through NHTSA regarding this issue.

I got a notice today saying that the pump warranty is being extended to 10 year 100,000 miles!!!

I got a notice too. Except it is way late. They should have offered this years ago. We'll see if Mitsu reimburses me for the pump even though I did the labor.

Had mine fixed last Wednesday, after receiving the warranty extension last Saturday! 94,000 miles went out at about 82,000. The only thing I wondered is if the new pump was identical to the old one or if Mitsu has done anything to modify it, does anyone know?

I've not heard of Mitsu modding the pump. I replaced mine last year and it looked the same. If you can get your new pump to go another 80K miles then that's great. Mine started failing around 50K. I drive in the Chicago winters. At the time the warranty did not cover it. I had to pay $1500 out of pocket for their design flaw. I was taking no chances of it failing again so I relocated mine to the trunk. I'm so glad I did. A year later and it still looks brand new. If you leave your pump in the same place the same thing is gonna happen again. Do yourself a favor and do what I did. It's not very hard and only requires extensions for the lines. I found a place in Chicago that can modify your lines and make extensions for them with your fittings. Cost is about $620 For the 5 custom fabricated tube assemblies and 3 custom hose assemblies. I had mine fail after the first snow fall this year. Luckily two weeks later they announced the warranty extension! For those wondering, my dealer didn't bat an eye at replacing the pump under warranty with my mods (full bolt ons).

Status: Covered under warranty at local Dealership with Full Bolt-on's and STM Tune.

I'm sure all the modded fellow owners will want to know what code popped up so they can say they know it was covered by another dealer somewhere else ... corrosion was likely the reason they replaced your pump for free BTW..

Forgot what code it ran when we were data logging pretty sure it was C161E for AYC pump failure. It was corroded.

Don't see why they wouldn't even if it wasn't corrosion, it's only at 22k with bolt ons no internal modifications.

My Dealership said they would cover the warranty on bolt ons as long as it wasn't the tune/power that did the damage. Maybe i got lucky on that part.

My Ayc had failed too..... Warrenty over and not cover.... I was told tat there was repair kit for it... Anyone know how and where to purchase? Or even the Ayc pump....
