So I recently had a comp stg 3 2600, resurfaced flywheel, and AMS cmc kit installed (2 weeks ago). When driving the car home I heard a very faint scraping / scratching noise kind of echoing back to me when driving between buildings. I figured it was the typical rock stuck in the caliper and figured it would go away. Well, two weeks later and the noise persists.

I did some searching and a few threads on various forums indicated it could be the TOB, but I was able to rule that out, as well as ruling out that it is not a brake related issue due to the following symptoms:

- makes the noise (well, I can hear it anyway), above 3k rpms in every gear
- makes the noise with the clutch depressed (holding revs above 3k)
- makes the noise in neutral w/ clutch in (holding revs above 3k)
- makes the noise in neutral w/ clutch out (holding revs above 3k)

So, since it makes the noise while stationary I can rule out the brakes. Since it makes the noise with both the clutch pressed in and out, I can rule out the TOB.

My best description of the sound would be that it is very very similar to when you have something stuck in your brakes and you hear a scrape / scratch on the wheel rotations. Because my exhaust noise is kind of loud, taking a video and capturing this would be very difficult.

Anyone run into this or have any ideas?

ended up being a loose heatshield for him...
